PROPERTIES
p-Menthane-3,8-diol, as a biochemical pesticide, is used as an insect repellent on human skin and clothing. It is made from extracts of eucalyptus plants. The product is a mixture of +/-cis and +/-trans isomers of p-methane-3,8-diol.
Apart from its use as an insect repellent active substance, p-menthane-3,8-diol has several other applications, or potential applications, such as antiseptics, antibiotics, fungicides and bactericides.
